David carefully crafts each training session so it’s individually tailored to each puppy’s ability, confidence, physical and mental maturity. At this age, he is very careful to keep their training sessions short and fun.

In order for your dog to reach it’s full potential, we advise individuals not to introduce their puppies to cattle at too young of an age, unless you have experience training stock dogs and have dog broke training calves.

Little Joe – Heading and Heeling

This video shows Little Joe heading and heeling cattle at 11 months old.

The Hangin Tree Cowdog breed is unique in its registering requirements. A litter of puppies can get appendix registration papers if the parents are both permanent registered Hangin Tree Cowdogs. But you cannot trade the appendix papers in for permanent registration papers until you can prove your dog can both head and heel cattle.

So getting proof of your Hangin Tree Cowdog heading and heeling  cattle is always an exciting milestone!
