Training Pups – Video Collection
Videos of Training Pups
These videos show David Dagley training Hangin Tree pups.
Although we don’t have videos to illustrate all these steps yet, some of the things we like to teach our pups are:
- Come
- Down\Stay
- Stand\Stay
- That’ll do (a release from stay)
- Load up
- Come behind (heel)
We also teach them basic manners, like NOT to bite people, not to go through a gate or door unless invited, etc…
I hope you enjoy watching these cowdog videos!
I believe the more things a puppy is given to experience when it is younger, the smarter is will be once it’s older.
One thing we like to do is take our pups on walks, not only giving them a chance to build up their endurance, but giving them creeks to cross, logs to climb over, scents to smell, and places to explore!
Kallie – 7 Week Old HTC
This is a quick example of training a young pup basic manners and socialization. Teaching her people are fun, but your’e not allowed to bite them!
Video taken September 14th, 2020.
Kora- 12 week old Hangin Tree Cowdog.
This video was taken on her 3rd day of training with David Dagley.
He has been focusing on teaching “come” (with and without distraction), and “load up”. Here we are showing Kora’s progress.

Stub – 3 Month Old HTC
One of the methods we’ve used to teach pups basic training is using a “clicker”.
Watch this video to see an example of us using a clicker to teach a Cowdog pup basic training.
Clicker training works best when someone has a lot of time, and is keeping their pup in the house to start with. You’ll need a small room with no distractions, a clicker, and a stash of small treats like chopped up hot dogs.
Filmed November, 5th, 2019.
Kora – 3 Month Old HTC
Here’s a sample of basic puppy training with David Dagley – Day 14.
Here they are practicing placing and patience, plus introducing Kora to working small stock.
Filmed April 19th, 2021
